1inch Hits $814 Billion in Trades, But Still Awaits Profit
1inch, a leading decentralized exchange aggregator, has seen significant growth since its launch in 2019. The protocol has facilitated over $814 billion in cumulative swap volume, but despite this impressive figure, it remains unprofitable. Co-founder Sergej Kunz attributes this to the DeFi market still being too small to generate sustainable revenue.
The protocol has expanded across 13 blockchains and introduced innovations like Fusion technology and cross-chain swaps. However, its fee structure remains competitive to avoid losing users to direct DEX trading.
Upcoming projects, such as the Aqua protocol, and partnerships in tokenized real-world assets could improve profitability prospects as DeFi evolves.
