$25 Million in Crypto Recovered from International Scam Schemes

Share

The U.S. Secret Service has made a significant breakthrough in its ongoing fight against cryptocurrency scams, recovering over $25 million in digital assets from five separate investigations.

The recoveries are linked to international fraud schemes that targeted thousands of victims worldwide, with the largest complaint seeking approximately $12.1 million connected to romance scams involving more than 200 victims.

Investigations revealed that scammers used fake profits and recovery fees to launder their illicit proceeds, often routing them through hundreds of intermediary wallet addresses and mixing them with other victims' funds.
