$2.5 Million Solana Exploit Leaves Aquifer Scrambling to Recover Stolen Funds
Aquifer, a Solana-based automated market maker, has been hit by an exploit worth $2.5 million. The protocol offers the attacker a 20% whitehat bounty if at least 80% of the assets are returned by September 3.
The attack involved wallets on both Solana and Ethereum, with addresses identified by blockchain security monitoring service Defimon. Aquifer has sent an on-chain whitehat offer to return the stolen funds, giving the attacker until September 3 to comply.
Aquifer's smart contracts were not exploited in the attack, according to available information. Instead, it appears that compromised wallet access was used to steal the assets. The protocol has committed to not pursuing civil claims if the attacker complies with the terms of the whitehat offer.
