$286M Exploit Fallout Creates Winners and Losers Among NES Token Holders
The $286M exploit fallout has left NES token holders divided into winners and losers as the cryptocurrency returns to trading on Binance Alpha and regains Ethereum funding on Kraken.
On September 10, Nesa's NES token resumed trading on Binance Alpha after a venue-specific interruption tied to an August 24 security incident. However, the restoration is not a network-wide relaunch or a single recovery plan.
Binance Alpha is using two snapshots to separate eligible 1:1 swaps from refunds on its platform. Kraken said NES covered by its funding incident would migrate 1:1 to a new Ethereum contract, while BNB-chain funding would remain disabled.
For users on both exchanges, the restoration process varies. On Binance Alpha, only those who held NES before August 24 at 14:51 UTC and also held an eligible portion when trading was suspended on September 5 at 04:00 UTC will receive a 1:1 swap for that portion.
Those with additional NES acquired after the August 24 cutoff are excluded from the 1:1 swap and are subject to separate refund treatment. The announcement does not disclose the complete refund formula, nor does it guarantee that every affected holder will be made whole.
