$2.8M Judgment Against BitBoy in Defamation Case Over Murder Accusations
Crypto influencer Ben Armstrong, known as 'BitBoy', has been hit with a $2.8 million default judgment by business mogul Kevin O'Leary in a defamation case.
The lawsuit, filed in March 2025, alleged that Armstrong falsely accused O'Leary of murder and doxxed him on social media platforms, including LinkedIn.
O'Leary's wife, Linda, was charged with careless operation of a vessel after a 2019 boating accident that resulted in two fatalities. However, she was later exonerated following a trial and acquitted.
The court ruled that Armstrong's posts significantly harmed O'Leary both professionally and personally, awarding $78,000 in reputational damages, $750,000 for mental anguish, and $2 million in punitive damages.
