$292M Exploit Sparks WBTC Migration to Chainlink CCIP
Chainlink's CCIP (Colored Coin Protocol) has been chosen by Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) as its new settlement layer after a major security incident. The move comes after $292 million was exploited from LayerZero, where BitGo had exited.
The exploit affected the protocol's liquidity pool and resulted in significant losses for users who staked their assets on the platform. As a result, many have lost confidence in the system.
WBTC has decided to move its settlement layer to Chainlink's CCIP, which is designed to provide secure and decentralized tokenized asset management.
