$2B Index Ventures Raise Signals Shift in Smart Money to Mainstream Startups
Index Ventures has raised $2 billion in fresh capital to support startups across various sectors. The funds will be split across three funds, including a $900 million venture fund, a $400 million seed fund, and a $700 million extension of its 2024 growth fund.
This is the second significant fundraise for Index Ventures within a year, with the firm previously closing $2.3 billion in July 2024. The company has now raised over $15 billion since its founding and has backed more than 100 startups that have reached unicorn status.
The allocation of funds will likely focus on sectors such as AI, enterprise software, cybersecurity, and fintech, which compete with crypto for engineering talent and investor attention.
