$2M Crypto PAC Spending Boosts Thanedar in Michigan Primary
A crypto industry-aligned political action committee has spent over $2 million in Michigan's 13th Congressional District, according to recent Federal Election Commission disclosures. The Protect Progress PAC is supporting Democratic incumbent Shri Thanedar and opposing challenger Donavan McKinney ahead of the August 4 primary.
The latest filings show that Protect Progress added $884,240 in new advertisements supporting Thanedar and more than $150,000 targeting McKinney with opposition messaging. This brings the total spending by the committee to over $2 million during the final two weeks of the primary.
Protect Progress is affiliated with the Fairshake network, which has received major funding from companies including Coinbase and Ripple. The committee's spending supports or opposes candidates but does not represent money transferred directly to their campaigns.
