$38 Million Coldcard Breach Triggers Massive Bitcoin Sell-Off
A major breach of Coldcard wallets has resulted in the theft of approximately $38 million worth of BTC. The exploit, which occurred on July 30, targeted around 500 wallets created with firmware versions dating back to March 2021.
Coinkite, the manufacturer behind Coldcard, issued an urgent advisory urging users to migrate funds immediately and is investigating whether newer models are also affected.
In other news, BitMEX saw massive outflows of BTC after announcing its shutdown. On-chain data showed a newly created wallet withdrew approximately $29.88 million worth of BTC from the platform.
