$3.9B Uniswap Exchange Targeted in Lawsuit Over $UNI Trademark
Unicoin has filed a lawsuit against Uniswap Labs, seeking to cancel the registration of its $UNI trademark. The complaint was filed in the Southern District of New York and argues that Unicoin's UNICOIN mark does not infringe on or dilute Uniswap's claimed marks.
The lawsuit claims that Uniswap's counsel sent three demand letters accusing Unicoin of trademark infringement, dilution, cybersquatting, and unfair competition. The letters demanded that Unicoin stop using its UNICOIN mark and transfer its unicoin.com and unicoin.org domains to Uniswap.
The complaint also seeks a declaration that the domains do not violate the federal Anti-Cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act. At the time of writing, DeFiLlama ranked the Uniswap protocol first among decentralized exchanges by 24-hour volume, with more than $3.9 billion.
Unicoin lists its public launch date for the UNCN token as September 28.
