$4.7 Billion Lost: Trump-Linked Crypto Ventures Under Scrutiny
Investors linked to US President Donald Trump have reportedly lost at least $4.7 billion since 2022 due to his involvement in various cryptocurrency ventures.
The report, issued by Public Citizen, examined several crypto-related projects associated with Trump and his family, including NFT trading cards, World Liberty Financial (WLFI), the TRUMP token, USD1, and Trump Media's Bitcoin treasury strategy.
The TRUMP token was found to be the largest contributor to the estimated losses, accounting for approximately $3.2 billion in unrealized losses among investors. The report also attributed at least $1 billion in losses to WLFI and around $450 million in unrealized losses to Trump Media's 9,477 BTC holdings.
The findings highlight the significant financial scale surrounding Trump-linked cryptocurrency ventures. Public Citizen noted that the estimated losses are largely based on unrealized losses, meaning investors have not necessarily sold their assets at a loss.
