50 Cent's Twitter Account Hacked in $18.6M Solana Token Scam

Rapper 50 Cent's Twitter account was compromised on Friday in a pump-and-dump scheme that saw his followers enthusiastically invest in a new Solana token called GUNIT.

The hackers exploited 50 Cent's online presence to promote the coin, referencing his cognac brand and other celebrity-endorsed cryptocurrencies. The ruse worked, with GUNIT's trading volume hitting $18.6 million in just 40 minutes and its value skyrocketing by a staggering 8,000%.

However, the scheme was short-lived as 50 Cent confirmed on Instagram that his Twitter account had been hacked. He tagged his cognac brand, implying that it too may have been affected. Twitter quickly locked 50 Cent's account, making all tweets inaccessible.

GUNIT's value plummeted following the news, but some investors remain committed to the token, which now has a market cap of around $150,000.
