US President Donald Trump has announced a $5,000 dividend to every adult US citizen if Republicans win both the House and Senate in the upcoming midterm elections. The plan would mark the biggest economic stimulus payment since the pandemic.
The dividend is seen as a reward for 'tremendous' economic success, according to Trump. Vice President JD Vance said he doesn't think it's a controversial idea, but noted that tariffs have generated revenue and didn't reveal all sources of the roughly $1.2 trillion required if the plan is confirmed.
Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP could benefit from the stimulus-style liquidity announcement. Bitcoin rallied earlier in response to similar announcements in 2020-2021 and last year's $2,000 tariff dividend announcement.
