$50M AAVE Trade Falls Apart Due to High Slippage and Ignored Warnings
A massive $50 million trade in AAVE tokens via the Aave interface went horribly wrong for one trader, resulting in a significant loss. The user attempted to purchase AAVE tokens using approximately $50 million in USDT, but ended up with only 324 AAVE tokens due to high slippage.
The trading interface displayed clear warnings about the extreme price impact and required explicit confirmation from the user before proceeding. Despite these warnings, the trader confirmed the transaction on a mobile device and completed the swap, accepting the high slippage conditions.
Aave founder Stani Kulechov stated that the transaction could not have been completed without the trader explicitly confirming the risk through the interface warning. CoW DAO, whose routing system facilitated the transaction, also claimed there was no evidence of an exploit or malicious activity.
