$52.5M Pantera-Led Funding Boosts World Foundation's Digital Identity Push

Share

The non-profit World Foundation has secured $52.5 million in funding from investors such as Pantera Capital, Bain Capital Crypto, and Eightco Holdings to expand its digital identity verification system, World ID.

The funds will be used to develop the system further, which uses biometric verification at a World Orb device to generate a digital credential for users.

This investment comes amid growing demand for systems that can verify whether an online user is a real person, driven by increasing AI-generated content and autonomous agents.

The project has faced regulatory scrutiny in several jurisdictions due to its biometric identity verification system.
