$52.5M Raised for Sam Altman's Proof of Human ID Network
The World Foundation has raised $52.5 million in a token sale to expand its World ID 'proof of human' network, led by Pantera Capital and joined by Bain Capital Crypto, Eightco Holdings, Selini Capital, and Susquehanna Crypto.
The funds will be used to bring World ID to organizations, consumers, and their AI agents. The need for a proof-of-human system is becoming increasingly clear as AI development accelerates, according to Pantera general partner Cosmo Jiang.
World ID allows individuals to prove they are human without revealing their identity through a one-time iris scan at the Orb device, which generates an ID stored on their phone. The technology has been integrated with platforms such as Zoom and Tinder this year, alongside a new enterprise-ready release called World ID 4.0.
The raise coincides with the project's third anniversary, during which time over 39 million people have joined the network, with 18 million verified in person via the Orb. The Foundation has processed 475 million ID proofs so far.
