$560K Crypto Seizure: FBI Cracks Hamas' Donation Network
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) successfully traced and seized over $560,000 in cryptocurrency from Hamas' network. The operation involved three separate seizures between March 2025 and October 2025, with additional actions taken against online infrastructure in 2026.
Investigators used blockchain analysis software called Reactor to connect seemingly separate transactions and identify the flow of funds into donation wallets and then onto operational accounts. Chainalysis' Reactor graph revealed how donors contributed to an Al Qassam Brigades donation wallet, which was then used to fund the group's activities.
The network employed various tactics to evade detection, including rotating donation addresses and using single-use donation wallets and bridges. However, analysts were able to follow the funds across these services, ultimately leading to the seizure of $560,000 in cryptocurrency.
