$560K in Cryptocurrency Seized by DOJ Allegedly Bound for Hamas
U.S. federal investigators have made a significant blow to Hamas by seizing over $560,000 in cryptocurrency and taking control of websites and servers allegedly used for fundraising and recruitment. The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced the action, which targeted the Al Qassam Brigades, Hamas' military wing.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro described the move as 'a massive blow' to Hamas. She stated that 'your networks are not secure, your crypto is vulnerable, and we will not stop until your ability to wage war is defeated.'
The DOJ's action was taken under three unsealed warrants issued in March, June, and October 2025. The seizures allowed the FBI to take cryptocurrency from addresses promoted through an encrypted group chat and a fundraising website.
Pirro noted that the DOJ now has 'the names and identities of thousands of individuals who tried to give money to Hamas that we were able to intercept.'
The information will be used in future counterterrorism work, according to the DOJ. The action aimed at disrupting Hamas' ability to finance its activities through cyberspace.
