$560K in Cryptocurrency Seized by US Government from Alleged Hamas Fundraising Efforts
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has seized over $560,000 in cryptocurrency allegedly destined for Hamas, according to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.
Pirro described the seizure as 'a massive blow' to the organization, which was designated a foreign terrorist organization by the U.S. government.
The funds were seized from addresses promoted through an encrypted group chat and a fundraising website, with prosecutors stating that the group provided potential donors with rotating cryptocurrency addresses intended to move money outside the formal financial system.
The DOJ obtained three unsealed warrants in March, June, and October 2025 to carry out the seizures, targeting fundraising infrastructure associated with Hamas' military wing, the Al Qassam Brigades.
