600 BTC from 2010 Moves After 16 Years
A batch of Bitcoin mined in March 2010 has moved for the first time in over 16 years, sending shockwaves through the crypto community.
The 600 BTC worth around $48 million was transferred from dormant wallets to an unknown recipient. Whale Alert traced all 12 mining block rewards and found no connection to Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin's pseudonymous creator.
According to Lookonchain, seven of the wallets had been flagged earlier for moving 350 BTC after 16.5 years of inactivity, also tied to the March 2010 mining period. The distinction between 'Satoshi-era' coins and 'Satoshi's coins' is crucial, as it tends to fuel short-term speculation in the market.
Whale Alert noted an unusual pattern in the order of the transfers, with one coin moving first in what appeared to be a test transaction. This behavior suggests deliberate planning rather than a single sweep of all wallets at once.
