600-Year-Old Bitcoin Dormancy Broken as $48 Million Transfer Takes Place
A batch of 600 Bitcoin mined in March 2010 was transferred after more than 16 years, valued at around $48 million today. The coins originated from early mining rewards of 50 BTC per block but blockchain analysis by Whale Alert found no connection to Satoshi Nakamoto.
The transfers began with a single coin as a test transaction, indicating careful handling rather than a sudden sell-off. The identity behind these wallets remains unknown and it is unclear if more dormant wallets will move in the future.
