$600K Crypto Scam Rocks Vancouver Island Couple
Oceanside RCMP on Vancouver Island are investigating a cryptocurrency investment scam that allegedly cost an elderly couple $600,000. According to police, over the past year, the couple transferred funds through various means to invest in a cryptocurrency fund they found online.
The investment was reportedly endorsed by a well-known national politician, according to Sgt. Shane Worth of the Oceanside RCMP. However, information is limited as the investigation is ongoing.
Police are warning people to be cautious when investing and to only use trusted advisors or financial institutions. The Oceanside RCMP has been actively educating community groups on fraud and scam prevention over the past four and a half years.
