A resident in Parksville Qualicum Beach has reported losing $600,000 to an online cryptocurrency scam.

The Oceanside RCMP received a complaint on June 23 about a scheme allegedly endorsed by a politician. The scam is just one of many incidents reported to the authorities in recent weeks.

Between June 22 and 28, the Oceanside RCMP received 323 complaints, including reports of stolen vehicles, vandalism, break-and-enters, and theft of personal property.
