$600K Lost in Cryptocurrency Scam Targeting Parksville Qualicum Beach Residents
A resident of Parksville Qualicum Beach reported losing $600,000 to an online cryptocurrency scam on June 23. The Oceanside RCMP received a total of 323 complaints about scams and thefts during the week of June 22 to June 28.
The victim reportedly invested in a cryptocurrency scheme after seeing an advertisement that claimed it was recommended by a politician. This is not the first time scammers have targeted residents of Parksville Qualicum Beach, with the Oceanside RCMP receiving numerous complaints about various types of scams and thefts.
