£72M Crypto Donations Fuel Reform UK's Election Ambitions
Two cryptocurrency-linked millionaires have pledged £72M to fund Reform UK's election campaign ahead of the mid-2029 elections.
The donations were made by Ben Delo, who co-founded BitMEX, and Christopher Harborne, an investor with a 12% stake in stablecoin firm Tether. They expect Reform UK to lead the upcoming government.
Delo explained that he was giving £1 million per month before the elections, front-running these donations into a single £36 million payment.
Harborne said he was inspired to match Delo's donation by his 'competitive spirit,' calling others to join him.
