$7.4 Billion Shift: DeFi Capital Flee's to Tokenized Treasury Deposits
Tokenized Treasury Deposits Have Tripled to $7.4 Billion as DeFi Capital Flee's Traditional Assets
The shift in on-chain capital flows is significant, with decentralized finance broadly contracting while deposits tied to tokenized real-world assets have exploded, more than tripling year-over-year to $7.4 billion in the second quarter of 2026.
This surge marks a decisive pivot from speculative crypto-native trading toward yield-bearing products backed by U.S. Treasuries, gold, and major equity indexes.
According to a joint report from CoinShares and Token Terminal, total DeFi deposits slumped approximately 15% over the same period, yet RWA-linked lending platforms and decentralized exchanges saw their locked value balloon from $2.3 billion in Q2 2025 to $7.4 billion this year.
