$74 Million Exploit Hits Crypto.com-Linked Lending Platform Tectonic
A $74 million exploit has hit the Tectonic digital-asset lending platform linked to Crypto.com. According to blockchain security firm PeckShield, an attacker manipulated the price of tokens used as collateral, inflating them by 300-fold within 20 minutes.
The inflated tokens were then used to borrow other assets, with the attacker draining at least $6 million from the platform. Validators that govern the Cronos blockchain froze all trading activity after discovering the exploit on Sunday.
The incident highlights the potential risks associated with decentralized lending platforms and the importance of robust security measures in preventing such attacks.
