$7.5M Stolen in Second Major Hack on Verus Ethereum Bridge

A major security breach has struck the Verus Ethereum Bridge, resulting in the theft of $7.54 million from users.

The hack, which occurred before a cross-chain transfer validation, allowed attackers to bypass verification and move funds that were never supposed to be unlocked.

The stolen assets include ETH, tBTC, USDC, USDT, EURC, MKR, and scrvUSD, all of which were present in the liquidity pool of the Ethereum Bridge.

This is the second major exploit on the Ethereum Bridge since May, with attackers stealing an estimated total of $11.56 million in the previous attack.

Investigations are ongoing to determine whether the current attack was aimed at updated contracts or another part of the import process.
