8 Capitulation Signals Flash as Bitcoin Trades Near $64,500
Bitcoin's price is currently hovering around $64,500, roughly flat for the month. However, beneath this surface-level stability lies a more complex situation.
According to VanEck's August 2026 Bitcoin ChainCheck report, eight out of twelve 'capitulation' signals are flashing positive signs. Capitulation is a term used to describe the point at which sellers have largely given up, often marking the painful final stretch of a bear market before prices turn around.
Historically, heavy capitulation has only led to stronger Bitcoin returns over 90-180 days, with the strongest case for buying appearing after about a year. This suggests that short-term crypto price upside is uncertain, despite positive market signals.
