$829K in Hype as Hyperliquid Burns Tokens Near Record Price
Hyperliquid's Assistance Fund made significant moves in the cryptocurrency market by purchasing and burning approximately $829,500 worth of HYPE tokens over the past 24 hours. This transaction brings the total number of burned HYPE tokens to around 48.42 million, which represents about 4.84% of the original maximum supply of 1 billion tokens.
The average purchase price for these tokens was $85.27 per token, and at current market prices, the cumulative value of these tokens would be near $4.14 billion. However, it's essential to note that this figure is a mark-to-market calculation and does not reflect the actual cost of acquiring these tokens.
Hyperliquid uses an automated mechanism called the Assistance Fund to direct protocol fee revenue toward open-market HYPE purchases, which are then burned under the network's burn framework. The Assistance Fund has been accumulating HYPE tokens at a system address without a conventional private key since December 2025, and validators formally recognized these tokens as burned through a governance process.
