A16z Crypto Unveils Quantum-Ready zkVM Upgrade Lattice Jolt
A16z Crypto, a venture capital division focused on crypto and blockchain investments, has unveiled Lattice Jolt, a revamped version of its open-source zero-knowledge virtual machine (zkVM).
Lattice Jolt replaces traditional elliptic-curve cryptography with a lattice-based architecture specifically designed to mitigate the threat of quantum computing.
The development integrates the Akita polynomial commitment scheme, co-designed with LayerZero, Carnegie Mellon University, and the University of Southern California, aligned with NIST post-quantum standards.
This upgrade aims to provide scalability and security for the blockchain industry. It achieves faster proof generation speeds, reduces proof sizes, and halves memory consumption compared to traditional hash-based quantum-resistant systems.
