AAA Launches Dedicated Crypto Dispute Resolution Team
The American Arbitration Association (AAA) has launched a dedicated team of arbitrators for the crypto industry, known as the Web3 Panel. This move is significant, given the increasing importance of blockchain and decentralized systems in global commerce.
The initial roster of the Web3 Panel includes experts from various fields, such as law, technology, and academia. Dr. Kabir Duggal brings international arbitration experience, while David A. Hoffman adds academic rigor around contract law and digital governance. Rich Widmann, who comes from Google Cloud, provides technical fluency, which is essential for resolving disputes in the crypto space.
The Web3 Panel builds on the AAA's existing framework for smart contract and blockchain dispute resolution. However, the timing of this launch is notable, as it coincides with the organization's work on the Legal Context Protocol. This protocol aims to create standards that govern AI-agent-driven transactions, which are expected to become increasingly common.
