Aave CEO Warns Proposed Ethereum Staking Change Could Cause Significant Damage
Aave founder and CEO Stani Kulechov has spoken out against a proposed change to Ethereum's staking rewards, which he believes could cause significant damage to the network.
The proposal in question would limit staking returns by reducing them to 0% if the staked ETH ratio exceeds 50% of the total supply. Kulechov argued that this structure would make staking revenues unpredictable and uneconomical for many participants, including institutional investors who value predictable cash flows.
He noted that if returns become uncertain, these investors might turn to alternative blockchain networks offering more stable income, which could create a significant adoption cost for Ethereum. Kulechov also stated that reducing staking yields to zero would render lending and yield strategies conducted via ETH largely ineffective.
