Aave DAO Unanimously Approves V4 Deployment on Ethereum Mainnet
The Aave decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) has voted to deploy its V4 protocol on the Ethereum mainnet. The proposal, which aims to introduce a modular architecture that separates liquidity from market-specific risk management, received over 645,000 votes in favor, with only one vote against and no abstentions.
The upgrade centers on a design called 'Hubs' and 'Spokes,' where shared liquidity pools supply capital, while distinct borrowing environments carry their own risk parameters and exposure limits. This framework is intended to expand Aave's range of supported financial use cases and accommodate assets with different risk profiles, maturities, or off-chain dependencies.
The near-unanimous result stands in contrast to the governance tensions that preceded it. On February 20, BGD Labs announced its departure after four years, citing an 'adversarial position' toward its work. The Aave Chan Initiative also left on March 3 due to a dispute over funding.
