Aave Deprecates 50 Asset Reserves Amid Risk Overhaul
Aave, a decentralized finance (DeFi) lending protocol, has announced that it will be deprecating 50 asset reserves across multiple deployments as part of its risk overhaul. The move aims to concentrate resources on higher-adoption assets and reduce the protocol's technical risk surface.
The affected assets include those on six chains: Sonic, Scroll, zkSync, Metis, Soneium, and Aptos, as well as 21 matured Pendle PT tokens. This decision is part of Aave's new Risk Framework and Technical Asset Listing Framework, which will evaluate factors like usage, liquidity, and technical exposure on an ongoing basis.
Aave founder Stani Kulechov announced the move in a post on July 30, stating that these assets saw 'low adoption' across its various deployments. The wind-down process will not freeze funds outright but will give users time to withdraw or reposition their funds.
