Aave Dominance in DeFi Lending Continues with $12.7B Loan Book
Aave's dominance in DeFi lending continues to grow, with its active loans reaching $12.7 billion and accounting for nearly half of top-ten active loans.
This surge is significant, as it reflects stronger demand for leverage and on-chain liquidity. Aave's loan book has almost matched the combined $13-14 billion held across nine competing protocols, making it an outlier in the sector.
Morpho, a rival protocol, held $4.81 billion in active loans, while most competitors remained below $2 billion. This concentration of borrowing demand within Aave means that its scale provides an advantage extending beyond its position atop the lending rankings.
However, despite this lead, Aave still has liquidity waiting for future borrowers, with roughly $30 billion supplied against $12.7 billion borrowed. This could continue to fuel growth without needing deposits to rise equally fast.
