Aave Eyes Wind Down for Six Underutilized V3 Markets
Aave is reviewing a proposal to wind down six underutilized V3 markets on various chains, including Sonic, Scroll, zkSync, Metis, Soneium, and Aptos. The move aims to reduce operational complexity and focus resources on more productive deployments.
The affected markets hold $98.1 million in deposits and $15.6 million in debt, representing less than 1% of Aave's total deposits. They also generate less than $5,000 quarterly, failing to cover oracle and monitoring costs.
According to the proposal, offboarding low-use reserves can make sense even if the headline deposit amount is not huge. This decision reflects a more mature phase of DeFi, where protocols focus on larger, more productive markets rather than spreading resources too thin.
