Aave Initiates Largest Cleanup Effort to Date, Retires Low-Use Reserves
Aave, a leading decentralized lending protocol, is embarking on one of its largest cleanup efforts to date. The initiative, proposed by founder Stani Kulechov and risk provider LlamaRisk, aims to retire dozens of low-adoption reserves and six smaller blockchain deployments.
The proposal targets 50 low-adoption asset reserves across multiple deployments, which represent $85.3 million in supplied assets and $11.5 million in debt. Additionally, Aave plans to wind down six smaller deployments on Sonic, Scroll, zkSync, Metis, Soneium, and Aptos, covering another 25 asset reserves.
The review follows a broad review under the newly proposed Aave Risk Framework, which was introduced after the $292 million KelpDAO bridge exploit. The framework aims to guide listings, reviews, and future deprecations across Aave V3, V4, and Aave Horizon.
