Aave Protocol Sees Resilient DeFi Activity Through WalletConnect Network
Aave Protocol and WalletConnect have released a report on key metrics for the first half of 2026, highlighting the resilience of DeFi protocol activity despite market fluctuations.
The data shows Aave recorded 197,501 transactions through the WalletConnect network during this period, with 14,655 unique wallets operating from 161 countries across 22 different chains. This consistent monthly activity of between 30,000 and 40,000 transactions is notable for a DeFi protocol like Aave.
The report also reveals that stablecoins dominated the volume, accounting for approximately 60% of transactions (52,996) compared to non-stable assets (35,716). USDC topped the list with 28,620 transactions, followed by USDT and ETH. This suggests a use case oriented toward stable capital movement, similar to traditional savings accounts.
The geographic analysis reveals two distinct user profiles: Brazil concentrates 35,950 transactions with just 1,569 wallets, representing approximately 23 operations per wallet; while the United States leads in user base but records only 8 transactions per wallet on average. This contrast suggests intensive retail use in emerging markets versus more spaced-out participation in developed markets.
