Aave Unveils MCP Server to Streamline AI-DeFi Interactions
Aave Labs has launched the Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, providing AI agents with a standardized endpoint to access live data from both Aave V3 and V4 protocols. This move simplifies the process for developers who previously had to cobble together static datasets and third-party wrappers.
The MCP server connects to Aave V3 deployments on 21 different blockchains and to Aave V4 on Ethereum and Avalanche, serving as a universal translator between AI models and Aave's on-chain infrastructure. It offers approximately 40 tools that cover various tasks such as market data retrieval, transaction preparation, and wallet position checking.
The server is non-custodial by design, meaning it can assemble transactions but never holds keys or signs anything on behalf of users. This architecture addresses the trust problem in AI-agent interactions, ensuring a human (or a separate signing module) still approves final steps before execution.
Aave's approach is notable for its scope and forward-thinking design. By supporting V3 across 21 chains and adding V4 on Ethereum and Avalanche, the team demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of DeFi's AI landscape.
