Aave Weighs Closing 6 Blockchains Amid High Risk Levels
Aave is considering closing its V3 markets on six blockchains and offboarding 50 low-use reserves, as part of a cleanup that would impact $98.1 million in supplied assets and $15.6 million in debt.
The decision follows a recommendation from risk management service LlamaRisk, which proposed winding down every reserve on Sonic, Scroll, zkSync, Metis, Soneium, and Aptos.
Aave founder Stani Kulechov said the move would 'reduce Aave's economic and technical risk surface as part of the new Aave Risk Framework and Technical Asset Listing Framework.'
The affected blockchains include Sonic, Scroll, zkSync, Metis, Soneium, and Aptos, with some markets already frozen. The decision is not a reversal of Aave's multichain expansion strategy.
