Aave Weighs Cross-Chain Expansion for Staked GHO with Chainlink CCIP
Aave is considering expanding its staked GHO (sGHO) protocol to Avalanche through a governance proposal that utilizes Chainlink's Cross-Contract Interoperability Protocol (CCIP).
The proposal, authored by TokenLogic, aims to allow sGHO to be used across multiple chains while maintaining Ethereum as the primary source of truth. This would enable users on other networks to access and use sGHO without the need for bridging or fragmented liquidity pools.
Avalanche is a relevant DeFi network that offers lower fees, fast execution, and EVM-compatible applications, making it an attractive choice for Aave's expansion plans.
The proposal uses Chainlink CCIP to coordinate cross-chain deposits and withdrawals while keeping Ethereum as the main accounting base. This architecture is designed to avoid the problem of multiple disconnected versions of the same product.
