Aave Winds Down Deployments on Six Blockchains, Removes Lightly Used Asset Markets
Aave founder Stani Kulechov has announced plans to wind down deployments on six blockchains and remove dozens of lightly used asset markets. This overhaul affects $98.1 million in deposits, as Aave narrows its focus to larger, more productive markets.
The affected blockchains include Sonic, Scroll, Aptos, zkSync, Metis, and Soneium, which have a combined total of $25 reserves with $12.8 million of deposits and $4.1 million of debt. The remaining removals account for $85.3 million in supply and $11.5 million in borrowings.
Kulechov said the move follows 'a comprehensive review' and will reduce the protocol's 'economic and technical risk surface.' He emphasized that this decision is not a verdict on layer-2 networks, but rather a strategic choice to direct resources toward established markets and new areas such as securities finance.
