Aave's Tokenized Gold Deposits Soar 91.7% Amid Global Uncertainty
Aave's tokenized gold deposits have surged by 91.7% over the past few weeks, reaching $76.7 million in early July from just under $40 million at the start of June.
This significant increase makes Aave the largest decentralized finance (DeFi) venue for XAUT, a gold-backed token that can be used as collateral to borrow stablecoins like USDT or USDC.
The growing demand for XAUT is likely driven by global uncertainty and elevated gold prices. Users can now leverage their exposure to gold while borrowing capital, or use borrowed stablecoins to acquire more XAUT.
Aave's lending activity has also been substantial, with active loans approaching $150 million and a utilization rate of 82.5% across its markets.
