Aave's TVL Surges Past $18 Billion Amid Mixed Market Signals
Aave's Total Value Locked (TVL) reached $18.05 billion on August 19th, indicating significant growth in the protocol.
The surge in TVL coincided with a nearly 25% increase in AAVE's price over 24 hours, following strengthened deposits and derivatives positioning across the board.
However, while top traders remained long-heavy, broader positioning and short-term spot activity highlighted some resistance to Aave's rally. The derivatives market showed a lack of agreement among traders, with buying dominance growing across the market but favoring sellers overall.
The Open Interest-Weighted Funding Rate had a positive reading of about 0.0220%, indicating minimal selling pressure. Nevertheless, net spot flows revealed more AAVE was being sold than bought, resulting in a $3.4 million net outflow over the past 24 hours.
