ABTC Posts $57M Loss Despite Record Mining Revenue
American Bitcoin Corp (ABTC) reported a net loss of $57.2 million in Q2 2026, despite generating $67 million in mining revenue. This represents an improvement over Q1's $81.8 million net loss on just $62.1 million in revenue.
The company's Bitcoin holdings increased by 14% to 8,002 BTC during the quarter, suggesting it is holding onto its mined coins rather than selling them to cover operational costs.
Founded by Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. in March 2025, ABTC operates as a majority-owned subsidiary of Hut 8 Corp., one of North America's largest publicly traded Bitcoin miners. The company leverages Hut 8's existing mining facilities and expertise, giving it a cost advantage over independent miners.
However, the significant losses in the first half of 2026 raise questions about ABTC's long-term sustainability. Its reliance on Hut 8's infrastructure means its operational destiny is partially in someone else's hands.
