Abu Dhabi Investor Anchors World Liberty Financial's Banking Arm with $500 Million Investment
A recent Wall Street Journal report reveals that Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed al Nahyan, the UAE's national security adviser, and his co-investors hold a 49% stake in WLTC Holdings, the parent company of World Liberty Financial. This investment was made through StringZ Holding RSC.
The same group also holds a significant portion of World Liberty's banking arm, which is seeking to establish a national trust bank to issue and redeem its USD1 stablecoin. The OCC granted preliminary conditional approval for this venture in August 2026.
The $500 million investment made by Sheikh Tahnoon and his co-investors in January 2025 gave them a 49% stake in World Liberty Financial, marking one of the largest sovereign-linked crypto investments to date.
