Abu Dhabi's $764M Bitcoin Bet Holds Firm Through Market Pain
Abu Dhabi's sovereign investment vehicles have shown remarkable resilience in the face of market volatility. Mubadala and ADIC, two major funds, reported that they had absorbed a $118 million hit to their Blackrock spot bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) positions in Q2 without reducing their holdings.
The funds held 22.94 million shares of IBIT worth nearly $764 million on June 30. This is down from the roughly $881 million value at the end of March, but a significant portion of that loss was not due to selling, but rather market fluctuations.
Mubadala had already increased its stake in IBIT by nearly 16% during Q1, lifting its position from 12.7 million shares to 14.7 million. This investment was made after another 46% increase in late 2025.
