ADI Chain and Shipfinex Tokenize $500M Vessel Pipeline on Blockchain
ADI Chain and Shipfinex have entered into an exclusive partnership to bring tokenized maritime assets onto the blockchain. The alliance aims to tokenize a pipeline of approximately 35 vessels valued at $500 million, representing vessel-backed credit, income linked to charter contracts, or other economic interests in individual ships.
The tokens will be distributed and settled on ADI Chain's infrastructure, with primary allocations and distributions expected in stablecoins denominated in UAE dirhams, US dollars, and other currencies. This move reflects the growing trend of tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), which Standard Chartered projects could reach $4 trillion by end of 2028.
Maritime transport accounts for over 80% of international trade by volume, yet vessels remain largely inaccessible as an investable asset class. The partnership between ADI Chain and Shipfinex seeks to offer new financing channels for shipowners, a sector that has historically relied on traditional banking structures to access capital.
The pilot project is still in its operational readiness phase, with no Maritime Asset Tokens having been publicly issued yet. However, the regulated issuance pathway is being defined, indicating potential future growth in this area.
