Adoption in Cryptocurrency: Behavior Change Trumps Technical Advancements

XDC Network's Quincy Jones and Algorand's Joseph Cecala discussed adoption in cryptocurrency during an episode of Genfinity's cross-chain builder spotlight. Jones argued that adoption follows behavior, not software, citing the example of how people quickly adapted to ChatGPT. He also pointed out that institutions focus on consequences first, such as identifying lawyers and regulators before writing code.

Jones emphasized that accountability is a major concern for institutions, who need to understand the risks involved in using cryptocurrency. He also noted that many organizations are willing to take risks if they understand what they're getting into. Cecala from Algorand discussed their new protocol, AC2, which keeps credentials out of the agent runtime and instead uses a doorbell-like approach to gate x402 payments and GitHub pushes.

Both XDC and Algorand highlighted the importance of behavior change in driving adoption. Jones expects everyday banking to be the next area where cryptocurrency makes inroads, while Cecala wants foundations to focus on integrations and volume rather than token price. Hedera's Fil discussed their inscription tooling, which allows NFT data to be stored on the graph instead of IPFS.
